Hello Creativity
In October I had a ball doing a 30 day, art every day challenge. I didn’t really have any expectations for the month, I was just interested in meeting some fellow creatives and seeing if I’d be able to stick to the routine. Little did I know that it would awaken my creativity in a whole new way :). Above and below are a few of peeks of some of the art I created over the course of 30 days. I really enjoyed exploring my interpretation of goddesses :)…that’s Sarasvati above and Lakshmi below…they were born amongst sketched out recipes, my everyday yogini’s and other inspiring places and things. I didn’t really put a box around the type of art I had to create…I just wanted to give myself some creative space.
So this year, I’ve decided to do another 100-day art project with my daily yoga practice as the focus.
The beauty of a daily, living yoga practice is that it encompasses so much more than just stretching. Whether in triangle pose on my yoga mat, in the kitchen cooking, on the plane interacting with strangers or sitting cross-legged with my eyes closed in front of my altar….yoga is about how we live, how we love and how we give–basically how we feed our soul.
The rules are:
- Starting tomorrow, Jan 12-April 20, I will create a daily yoga-inspired piece of art.
- I’ll paint some, draw some, collage some…on canvas, paper, wood….for 5 minutes, 4 hours, all day…..somedays there will be yogini’s, some day goddesses, some day animals…some day abstracts, but they will all be spiritual in nature…whatever moves me really is what will show up :). The goal is one piece of art, in one form or another, for 100 days.
- I’ll post my daily creations on Instagram with the hashtags #100daysofart #yogainspiredart #everydayyogini.
- And I hope you’ll join me on my adventure :)! If you’d like to follow along and see what I create, please follow me on Instagram. I’ll post periodic updates on the blog throughout the 100 days, but not daily–I’ll use instagram for that.
Looking forward to seeing this project unfold! Hello Creativity….Thank you 2016!
Lots of Love,
Kajal
