What’s your 2018 Mantra going to be?
The year’s still young :), so I hope you get a chance this weekend to reflect and create your own 2018 inspiration board, because as many of you know, collaging / setting intentions is my favorite new year’s tradition. The beauty about these boards is that they can be about anything–internal or external. I’ve collaged on wellness/healing, love, moving and even work.
Create Your Own Vision Board
What I love about this process is that there is something so calming, organic and grounding about it. I try not to start with any pre-defined ideas and instead allow myself to get lost in a pile of favorite magazines and my box of “things I love” (i.e. tea bag quotes, old cards, newsletter snippets, inspiring articles, etc, etc). After a few hours of ripping and snipping out things I’m drawn to, I sit down with a blank canvas and start arranging the words and images. And slowly, without a doubt, my deepest longings come to the surface.
This year was no different, the messages that came out were loud and clear and resonated deeply in my heart. For me 2018 is going to be about redefining my definition of success through self love, contentment and community….and spending so much more time outside, basking with Mother Nature!

Happy 2018, friends! Here’s to supporting each other and our intentions! I can’t wait to hear from you!
With love,
Kajal
p.s. If want some additional inspiration, you can see past years here: 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2017 (in 2016 I opted to do a 100 day project instead).
Hi, Kajal,
Happy New Year! I love your new collage and intentions for 2018. I will definitely create one of my own, because…I’m going to India for the first time in February! I will be journeying to Rishikesh with a tour group, visiting all of the beautiful temples, hopefully getting my astrological chart done, and–most importantly–bathing in Ma Ganga! So I will be creating my vision board and choosing a mantra to represent it. Once it’s complete, I’ll leave my comment to represent the vision board (and hopefully I can send you what it looks like in a separate e-mail.) Stay tuned!
Thank you so much, Kim! I’m so excited to hear about your trip….I can’t wait to hear about your journey, sounds like you have a lot of great things planned. Your collage is going to be so special; it’ll be fun to reflect on it after your trip :).
My word of the year for 2018 is “persist”. Last year was a trial mentally and emotionally, and I want this year to be a year of growth and new experiences. I have so many goals I want to accomplish, and I have to remember to be persistent!
I love the “Be Kind” elephant print. Elephants are my favorite animal. One of my New Years resolutions is to be kinder to myself.
Hi Kate! Persist is great word, I love it. As Napolean Hill once said, “Patience, persistence, and perspiration make an unbeatable combination for success”. Sounds like you have all three! Happy New Year to you!
My mantra, word for 2018 is “compassion.” I want to better understand what compassion means for my inner-self first, then to show it to others; friends, family, and people I find difficult. I love the “Be Kind” elephant print, so beautiful 🙂
Wow, that’s a powerful one. Sounds like you’re all set to have a very happy year….”If you want others to be happy, practice compassion. If you want to be happy, practice compassion.” – Dalai Lama
Happy New Year’s!
Hi! My word and intention for 2018 is “captivate”. I intend to captivate more friends and art this year. I’m excited to be a part of this group, sharing is believing. :-)))
Hi Mary, captivating friends and art…that sounds like fun and specific goal….awesome! Happy New Year!
Thanks, Kajal My intention word is ENDEAVOR. No progress can be made without our endeavoring persistently. In the Bhagavad Gita Krishna wants us to consciously, sincerely try, and He will move to assist us further. I am choosing to endeavor to connect, and remove my stumbling blocks to growth.
I couldn’t find which Prince from which to select if I am a winner but perhaps Ganesha would be a good choice. Maybe you can direct me to the ones from which we can choose. Happy and fruitful new year!
Hi Sumati, happy new year’s! Your words mentioned from the Gita remind of Anandi Ma telling us how it’s important to put all our effort forth, but in the end God and grace must be in alignment too. Good luck with your endeavor :).
Hi Kajal!
I often distract myself with TV or work and avoid thinking about and feeling the things I need to confront. I end up feeling like I’m on autopilot; not truly living. This year, I intend to savor. I want to make more effort to be mindful and present, fully savoring my interactions, emotions, and experiences – riding the highs and lows, adding balance and more harmony to my life.
If chosen, I think the “Love and Honey” print would be a nice reminder to see that sometimes, you need to give (and deserve) yourself some TLC.
Living in the present moment…SAVORING it all, wonderful word!
