The joining of two lives is a big commitment—an adventure full of ups, downs and everything in between. As a witness to this special day, how do you gift a present that nurtures, grows and celebrates a couple as the navigate their new life together? In my opinion, ample inspiration for the journey is a must :).
As someone who loves spirituality and the impact of words, blessings and proverbs have always been a favorite of mine. So this year, I couldn’t resist creating a collection of my favorite blessings and proverbs from around the world. When putting this collection together–in particular the wedding blessings—the following are the three elements that I kept in mind so that these prints could be the perfect wedding/anniversary gift:
1. Capture the Magic
I love going to weddings :). My all-time favorite moment during a wedding is when the bride and groom first make eye contact at the altar. It’s hard not to get giddy and grateful every time I get to witness such a special moment filled with unlimited possibilities and LOVE.
I believe that moment is so powerful because it holds so much energy….the energy and excitement of two lives coming together, with shared dreams of creating a life filled with love, laughter, light, warmth, community. And hopes to have and to be a partner that brings out the best in each other through the good times and bad.
While I have a great appreciation for gift registry’s and their ability to help make a house into a home….eventually dishes break, measuring spoons get stuck in the garbage disposal and dish towels get holes. However, a few key presents off the gift registry, like these prints, have the ability to capture the magic of that special day so that those intentions travel with them as they start their journey of TOGETHER.
2. Provide a Touchstone
As a witness, to be able capture the spoken and unspoken hopes and dreams that are shared on that day can be truly magical gift. I think many of us do this by going to great lengths to find the perfect card. A card that captures the depth of your wishes and intentions for the couples journey. However, soon after the wedding, those cards generally end up sitting in a box. 🙂
My hope with these prints is to create a gift that can serve the couple in the form of on-going beauty and inspiration. A touchstone to remind them of their hopes and dreams as they travel the road of life together.
As someone who has been married for 12 years now…the ups and downs are constant, so the need to stay inspired and remind each other of our love, hopes and dreams, is essential.
3. Celebrate THEM!
Lastly, I think a gift feels extra special when it’s clear that it was made specifically for you. And that’s why I made it a point to be able to personalize these prints, through color and the option of adding names and a date to the print. A personalized gift feels extra special and celebrates them!
In addition to personalizing it, to capture the beauty of our modern global culture, I wanted to create non-denominational blessings, as well as a few culturally specific one. Getting married, is a huge step. A life long commitment that deserves commemorating on a daily basis.
