Thoughts on turning 40 :)…and other delights.
For those of you that don’t know, next week I turn 40 :)…
And being on the cusp of this new year, this new decade has got me thinking about where I’ve been, where I’m at and where I want to go. I’ve been re-reading one of my favorite books by Gunilla Norris called Inviting Silence. It’s about the beauty of meditation, practice and community…and it’s filled with so many gems of wisdom that it has me reflecting on….
I’d love to hear from you, so please leave a comment below!
Lots of love,
Kajal
p.s. The new moon ? this weekend ushers in one of my favorite times of the year…Chaitra Navratri! A nine day period known for high spiritual energy…the perfect time for a mini self retreat. Whether you have the ability to take time off from work or not, I find that tucking in a little extra practice time in the mornings and evenings for malas, meditation or spiritual reading goes a long way! I hope you get a chance to nourish your spirit this week!
40 is definitely a major milestone, and you’ll be noticing more of a shift in what is important to you & what is not. The cool thing is you’ve been cultivating a yogic Spiritual practice for a while, so you’ll be able to add that to the mix of entering a new decade. 40 for me was so long ago…but–as a 63 year-old woman who has a full, vibrant life and just getting started in becoming more Spiritual–I feel like my life is becoming more enriched. Still trying to meditate more successfully, and embrace silence. I’m not forcing it; rather, I continue practicing every day. I also add japa, yoga, workshops and kirtan events to broaden my practice.
Keep doing what you love best, Kajal! You’re an inspiration!
Kim, thank you so much for your wise words! It is so amazing how cultivating our spirituality enriches our lives…and those around us! And I love when you say you’re not forcing it, because then it doesn’t feel nourishing but rather another thing to do on a long list of to-do’s. And ditto to you—you are a great inspiration! ❤️
Kajal– I would like to say that I think you are winning at life– filling your world with beauty, calmness, and thoughtful things. In June I will complete my 4th decade and I still struggle with the different sides of my personality and consistency in my practice, but my patience and understanding has improved. I enjoy your creations, your approach and thoughtfulness, and the optimism you offer. Wishing you a very happy birthday!
Hi Dana! I appreciate your kind words, but where you’re at totally resonates with me too! I think a large part of my practice has been cultivating more compassion for myself….so more patience and understanding is definitely a huge part of that. As a perfectionist at heart I’ve always struggled with feelings of not being adequate or good enough…. but what I’m learning is that the beauty of yoga is often the things we work on within ourselves when we’re not actually on the mat. ❤️ Which is always a work in progress! Thanks so much for birthday wishes…An elder friend once said to me, birthdays are a beautiful thing, they remind you that you’re one year closer to God :). ❤️
Happy Birthday, Kajal! Much love to you and your sister!!
Thx Jen!! ❤️
