Giving Back
When I returned from India this past January, I wrote a blog post called Travel Dairies: Retreating to India where I shared a little on meditation retreat I attended through Dhyanyoga Centers and the beauty I experienced on a daily level at their ashram. While I was there I got a tour of the facility grounds–it’s amazing how much they’ve added and expanded to their grounds. I’ve been doing volunteer work with this organization for over 18 years now and they hold a very special place in my heart…they’re actually the inspiration behind our Giving Back Program.
Helping Many
This is Dr. Megha, the residing physician at Anandi Ma Ashram’s free medical clinic in Nikora, India. The new medical clinical is beautiful, clean and provides a multitude of services. On my tour I learned that the clinic is open 7 days a week and offers a variety of different services. Through out the week Dr. Megha offers basic Internal Medicine services. And then on a rotating basis, the ashram has specialists come in one day a week to see patients with more specific needs. They’ve been able to bring a lot of new, on-going free medical services so now patients are coming from even farther distances to take advantage of the assistance and care.
The facility just opened in 2015, so it’s pretty new. There are several speciality rooms: an urgent care type of room set up with 4 beds for patients to receive IV’s and other care when needed, a dental suite, a blood lab, an optometry room, and a physical therapy room. I learned that before this clinic was around, local villagers would either go without care or receive sub-optimal care at other basic facilities. So, this clinic serves a huge need. And I’m so happy to hear that the reputation of the ashram clinic is so highly regarded that people are now travelling from distant villages to get care at the clinic. :)⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Paying Goodness Forward⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The goal now is to expand this clinic….so I’m happy and excited to keep donating a portion of our profits to help make this happen. Our Giving Back Program is such a big inspiration for me to keep sharing my work with the world, as I love paying goodness forward with every purchase made in our shop.
So, thank you to each and every one of you that supports Wholesome Soul! Whether you realize it or not, you all are making a huge difference in so many people’s lives across the world :).
With full heart,
xo,
Kajal
p.s. In addition to the medical facility, the ashram was also able to expand the cow shed to house the ever-growing bovine family that lives there and provides such delicious nourishment :)….but alas that will have to be another blog post :)…as I have the cutest pics of them!
